Do you know when you should be working on and finalising your samples for production?

Summer production – design and sample in the winter.
Winter production – design and sample in the summer.
Some designs will be made as a ‘filler or exclusive range’ and sampled closer to the seasons, but generally when you are starting out with your first range or styles, you need to be organised, without rushing and making mistakes that don’t sell, wasting your money and time.

Do you realise it may take months to develop the final product?

You require time to sample in different fabrics for the ‘product (garment) end use’

You require time to make and acquire ‘real client feedback’ eg;
Get your friends to wear the garment and get ‘REAL’ feed back on what they think and if they are comfortable, would they buy them etc
Get a few garments made and sell them at the markets so you can listen to what people say about them as they window shop and browse.
Did they buy anything?
Did they like the fabric or the styles?
Do they like the colours?

You require time to make technical packs with specification sheets (product information) to use for the pattern making and construction processes.

You need time to research factories and see if they can make a minimum run that you can afford.
You require time to get product samples made from these factories to determine which one you like with their quality and if you will use them.
Be Prepared and the work load will be less stressful.

See what else we have to say...
